US Food and Drug
Administration (FDA) is recommending against the continued
prescribing and use of the pain reliever propoxyphene because new
data shows that the drug can cause serious toxicity to the heart.
This drug is a pain reliever sold under various names including
Darvon and Darvoct. The FDA has requested the manufacturers
voluntarily remove the product from the US market.
If you are taking
these medications consult your physician about their use and
switching to another pain medication.
